What You’ll Learn

Imagine sitting in your living room, and one of your friends is moving furniture around the room. Another friend is yelling at her. You get up and grab your friend’s arm to stop her….

If this situation played out in a nursing home, you would have to respond to 3 different types of behaviors. You would have to understand the causes of each behavior and develop a plan to prevent future similar behaviors. When behaviors occur within the 7-day look back period of the MDS, they have to be coded and negatively impact quality measures for long stay residents. These behaviors may also increase a resident’s risk for falls, psychotropic medication use, rehospitalization, and overall decline.

Attendees of this webinar will not only learn how to code behaviors on the MDS, but how expertly address them as well. Does your facility know how to respond to behaviors?

After attending this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Review guidelines and coding for Section E
  2. Understand appropriate documentation for behaviors
  3. Discuss the RAI process for CAT’s, CAAs, and care planning behaviors
  4. Identify quality measures and regulatory compliance pertaining to behaviors
